Rhu village is situated two miles out of Helensburgh, on the Gareloch, en route to the peninsula and the Naval bases – Faslane and Coulport. Its also on the route to Arrochar, Oban, Fort William and the Highlands of Scotland, a good stopping-off point on your journey. It’s a very pretty village with a strong sailing tradition and even tales of smuggling in days of yore! Glenarn Gardens, a private residence, are open to the public [a small donation is encouraged] and are spectacular in the spring. Rhu gala with the local pipe band and Scottish country dancers is a highlight in June.
If you visit Scotland you can be assured of seeing some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable by coming to this area.
